What is Velodarlo?

About Us

Velodarlo is a city bicycle sharing scheme for Darlington. It makes stylish Dutch bikes available for use by Darlington residents for a small weekly charge. To take advantage of the scheme, you need to join Velodarlo. Members then pay a small deposit.


Once we have confirmed your residence, you can hire our bikes on a weekly or monthly basis. You pay a deposit of £20, and a weekly hire charge of £3 to use the bikes.


Velodarlo has grown out of Darlington Media Group’s Beauty and the Bike project. Throughout 2009, a film crew and photographer from the Media Group are following a group of teenage girls and young women, who want to combine style and cycling. They have helped raise the grants needed to fund Velodarlo. The project is also supported by Darlington Cycling Campaign, who help look after the bikes.
